GHPUD is offering incentives for qualified air-source heat pump upgrades or conversions in commercial buildings under 50,000 SQFT. If your heat pump is over 10 years old, you can save up to 20% on your heating and cooling costs when you install a new model that has earned the ENERGY STAR label.*

  • Must replace an existing heat pump or an electric heating system

Incentive Information

Heat Pump Conversion (Replacing electric resistance heating system).
$1,000/ton

Heat Pump Upgrade (Replacing an older existing heat pump system or new construction).
$150/ton

ARI rated cooling capacity will be used to determine tonnage, rounded up or down to the nearest whole ton.

Eligibility
HEAT PUMP CONVERSION

• BPA Qualified Commercial Heat Pump Tool must be completed.
• 50,000 square feet or less conditioned building area.
• Consume less than 600,000 kWh annually.
• Heating type is electric resistance (gas is not eligible).
• New heat pump is air to air system, and meets all applicable CEE Tier 1 or Tier 2 performance specifications (e.g. both EER and IEER).

HEAT PUMP UPGRADE

• An existing building or new construction.
• 50,000 square feet or less conditioned building area.
• Electric heat (gas is not eligible)
• New heat pump is an air to air system, less than 20 tons of cooling capacity, and meets all applicable CEE Tier 1 or Tier 2 performance specifications (e.g., both EER and IEER).

Contractors must be on the District's approved contractor list or members of the Air Northwest Trade Ally Network.

Steps to Participate
1. Contact Energy services at Grays Harbor PUD for more information and to determine eligibility.
2. Contact a contractor or vendor on the District's approved contractor list or Air Northwest Trade Ally Network to request quotes.
3. Submit application, Heat Pump Project Information Form or Heat Pump Tool, contractor bids and technical information.
4. Pre-approval by Grays Harbor PUD for projects must be obtained prior to material purchase and installation.
5. Upon project completion the contractor or customer will notify Grays Harbor PUD, and provide all paid invoices and other documentation associated with the project.
6. Grays Harbor PUD will conduct a final inspection of the project to verify the project and compliance with the proposal. The rebate will be processed once the inspection is completed.
